Massachusetts - Where fantasies come true and insanity rules!

Well as we all know, the legislature passed the state budget on Monday. However, the Governor is on vacation but he doesn’t like the fact that it only raises taxes by 500 million not the 1.9 billion he wants. The budget was passed on largely party lines but it contains among other taxes two very alarming ones, a gas tax tied to inflation which will hurt even the poorest of people as well as businesses and a tax on computer and software services which threatens to inhibit the growth of one of the more promising industries in the state! I’m sure that this disagreement among democrats is strictly political in nature. Governor Patrick needs to show Obama that he is a real left wing liberal who believes in high taxes so that he can get a plum high level federal job while the state democrats believe that the people will only tolerate so much in tax hikes after all...…they need to go out and win the next election!  Forgotten in this conversation is the fragile state of our economy and the deleterious effect any tax hike will have on the state economy when magnified by increases in health care costs expected from Obamacare when the full impact of it kicks in early next year! But of course we live in a “Blue” state where fantasies come true and insanity rules! Welcome to the fantasy world of Massachusetts!
