Community Corner

In Support of Jackie Lavender Bird

We are writing in support of Jackie Lavender Bird as candidate for Alderman-at-Large. Jackie acquired a great deal of government experience when she served as a key member of then-Congressman Ed Markey’s staff, and in her current role serving as a Melrose Alderman-at-Large for the past two and half years.  Jackie also served as Mentoring Program Coordinator and Outreach Coordinator for the Melrose Alliance Against Violence (MAAV). Throughout her career, Jackie has gained respect from the public as well as law makers, government officials, and community service providers because she is smart, compassionate, practical and fair.

Jackie, a lifelong Melrose resident, graduated from Melrose High School and from Washington College. She and her husband Brian are raising a family here in Melrose. Both are well-respected in their community, where they have served long hours as volunteers in our schools and coaching youth sports.

Having known Jackie for more than a decade, we have come to admire many of her qualities- her wisdom, grace, positivity, and sense of humor being right at the top of the list. Jackie has an unwavering desire and commitment to keep Melrose the amazing community that it is and, where possible, to improve it.  She lives this commitment every day through actions big and small that benefit all of us.  Jackie lets her conscious be her guide and we can all count on her to do the right thing- not the easy thing- every time.

With great enthusiasm, we support Jackie Lavender Bird and ask you to consider casting your vote for her as well.
Sincerely,
Paul Cunningham and Carrie Weatherbee Cunningham
