Police Seek Serial Bank Robber in Three Eastern Bank Robberies

A man passed a note to a teller on Friday afternoon—the third bank robbery in Melrose in the past three weeks, and Melrose Police believe the same man may have committed all three.

At least this time it was a different branch—but Melrose Police suspect it may be the same criminal.

The was robbed on Friday afternoon by a man who passed a teller a note, according to scanner reports.

Melrose Police believe the same man may be the person who robbed the , on July 6 and July 16, they said in a press release issued Friday evening.

According to scanner reports, there was no weapon shown in Friday's robbery. Police were given a description of the robber as a slim white man, approximately 24-years-old, with black hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a black shirt, black hat possibly with a logo on the front, and jeans, and exited the bank by a side door after the robbery.

That's a similar description given of the robber from the July 6 and July 16 robberies.

Surveillance photos from Friday's robbery provided by Melrose Police also seem to show the same man seen in surveillance photos from the July 16 robbery.

Melrose Police are coordinating their efforts with the Boston Area FBI Bank Robbery Task Force, the press release said.

"These efforts resulted in an in an unrelated robbery of the Main Street branch of the bank in May of this year," the press release stated.
