Father Accused of Throwing Infant Onto Sidewalk Found Guilty

Carlos Edwards, 33, was found guilty of assault and battery on a child with bodily injury, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on a child under 14, and reckless endangerment of a child after throwing his infant son Carmello Sears onto a Malden sidewalk during an . 

that Edwards threw Sears over his mother's head, where he landed on the ground. Edwards reportedly promptly left the scene without attending to the injured infant. 

Carmello sustained a number of injuries, but underwent a rapid recovery last August after only six days in care. 

Edwards is scheduled to be sentenced this Friday, July 20.
