Man Arrested, Bank Robbed at Gunpoint and 2 Fisher Cats Found Dead in Melrose

The following is a sampling of entries from the Melrose Police log:

Oct. 20

8:07 a.m.: Grove Street at Lebanon Street, report of an hit-and-run accident. A light pole was reportedly knocked over with wires exposed. DPW was notified.

10:56 a.m.: Main Street, caller reported that a vehicle came out of the Dunkin' Donuts and he had to dump his motorcycle to avoid hitting them. There was damage done to the motorcycle.

12:34 p.m.: Police responded to Ridgewood Lane to serve a warrant. James Foley, 36, of 15 Ridgewood Lane, Melrose, was arrested on a warrant.

3:39 p.m.: TD Bank North on Main Street, report of a bank robbery

6:15 p.m.: Lynn Fells Parkway, homeowner returned home to find house was broken into.

9:30 p.m.: Franklin Street, report of an accident.

Oct. 19

1:53 a.m.: Police made a motor vehicle stop on Lynn Fells Parkway. A 23-year-old Everett woman was summonsed on charges of unlicensed operation of a vehicle and speeding in violation of a special regulation.

9:51 a.m.: A person visited the police station to report a stolen iPhone 5 cellphone in a pink case. The phone was tracked to Saugus, and Saugus Police Department was notified.

2:12 p.m.: Swains Pond Avenue, caller reported two fisher cats dead on the side of the road. Bowls were also found near the cats. The caller notified the DPW, and the animal control officer notified.

7:48 p.m.: Lebanon Street, report of a vehicle struck while parked in a driveway.

9:44 p.m.: Sixth Street, caller reported a group of kids vandalized the flowers in front of his house. The group was later removed from a nearby park.

Oct. 18

1:04 a.m.: Police conducted a motor vehicle stop in the Lebanon Street and Naples Road area. A 44-year-old Stoneham woman was summonsed on charges of unlicensed operation of a vehicle and a vehicle lights violation.

7:41 a.m.: Main Street, report of an accident.

7:43 a.m.: Main Street, report of an accident.

10:56 a.m.: Edgemere Street at Ryder Avenue, report of an hypodermic needle in the roadway. The needle was recovered and disposed of properly.

2:49 p.m.: Upham Street at Lincoln Street, report of an accident.

Oct. 17

8:55 a.m.: Stratford Road, report of identity theft.

11:02 a.m.: Sewall Street at Upham Street, detail officer reported a strong smell of natural gas. National Grid and the Fire Department were notified.

1:14 p.m.: Green Street, caller reported that he received a phone call from a man telling him that he just won $5 million from Publisher's Clearing House and that it would cost $2,000 shipping and handling to receive his winnings. He wanted to make sure others were aware of this scam attempt, reads the log. 

3:48 p.m.: A person visited the police station to report a past breaking and entering.

5:46 p.m.: Warren Street at Franklin Street, report of a three-car accident with no injuries.
