Melrose Man Allegedly Assaults Police, Ambulance Personnel
At 2:15 p.m. Jan. 10, Melrose Police responded to Golden LivingCenter on Martin Street for a report of a disturbance with a patient by first floor nursing station. A 66-year-old Melrose man was summonsed on several charges, including assault and battery, disturbing the peace, two counts of assault and battery on a police officer, assault on ambulance personnel and resisting arrest.
Jan. 10
10:07 a.m.: Main Street at Grove Street, police made a motor vehicle stop. Patrick Lothrop, 33, of 128 Vernon St. Apt. 2, Wakefield, was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle with a revoked license and having an unregistered vehicle. The vehicle was towed.
10:50 a.m.: Franklin Street near the Franklin School, report of an hypodermic needle found in the area. The needle was recovered and disposed of properly.
11:13 a.m.: West Wyoming Avenue, report of an accident. One transported to Franklin Street.
1:20 p.m.: Lebanon Street, report of vandalism. The caller reported that there was damage done to a sign.
3:10 p.m.: Henry Avenue, report of a domestic disturbance. Fireand Ambulance crews responded. One person was injured.
4:04 p.m.: Bellevue Avenue, report of an hit-and-run accident.
4:16 p.m.: Bruegger's on Main Street, report of counterfeit currency passed.
6:35 p.m.: Greenwood Street at Franklin Street, report of an hit-and-run accident. A 27-year-old Hollis, N.H. man was summonsed on charges of leaving the scene of property damage and operating a vehicle with a suspended license for driving under the influence.
Jan. 9
1:05 a.m.: Hancock Street, report of a suspicious vehicle. Police reported finding a vehicle open. The vehicle's owner was located and will report anything that may have been stolen from it. Units patrolling the area could not locate anyone suspicious.
5:55 a.m.: Porter Street at Lincoln Street, caller reported an hit-and-run accident involving a white mini van.
12:03 p.m.: Seawall Woods Road, report of a suspicious vehicle in the area. Caller reported that a white van had been parked in the same spot for two weeks. The 2003 Dodge Ram van was unregistered and towed from the scene.
2:26 p.m.: Lynn Fells Parkway at Warwick Road, report of a manhole cover off, leaving an open hole. The cover was put back on, Melrose DPW responded, and the cover reportedly came off again, damaging a vehicle. State Police notified and responded to take a report, and MWRA and DCR both were notified and responded.
5:54 p.m.: Warwick Road at Lynn Fells Parkway, report of a minor accident.
