NH State Police Arrest Melrose Man on Drug Charge

A Melrose man was one of nearly 50 people arrested by New Hampshire State Police over St. Patrick's Day weekend.

A Melrose man was one of nearly 50 people arrested by New Hampshire State Police over St. Patrick's Day weekend, according to a press statement.

After being stopped by State Police Saturday on Interstate 93 in Thornton, N.H., Jonathan Baldwin, 22, of Melrose, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled drug, according to the statement.

Between 9 p.m. Friday through 3 a.m. Monday, State Police "maintained a highly (visible) presence throughout the state to assure safe holiday travel," according to the statement.

"Highly trained State Troopers were also assigned throughout the state to detect and apprehend impaired drivers," reads the statement. "As a result of their enforcement efforts there were a total of 21 DUI arrests made and 28 other criminal arrests."

State Police reported no fatal motor vehicle accidents over St. Patrick's Day weekend.
