Report of Alleged Assault Leads to Warrant Arrest

Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2:23 a.m. Melrose-Wakefield Hospital staff called Melrose Police to report a man in the hospital's emergency room had been assaulted at his Grove Street home.

Melrose Police Lt. Mark DeCroteau said officers responded and interviewed the victim, who told police that the assault happened at approximately 1 a.m. DeCroteau said he could not comment on whether the assault happened inside the home or outside, as the incident is under investigation, but said that the victim did not believe he knew his alleged assailant.

While interviewing the 22-year-old victim, a reference check revealed that he had an outstanding warrant for a probation violation, DeCroteau said. The man was placed under warrant arrest.

Car Abandoned After Crashing Into Light Pole

Friday, Feb. 25, 2:22 a.m. A caller reported that a car had crashed on West Wyoming Avenue at Hurd Street and the car's occupants were fleeing the scene. The Melrose Police officer who responded found the vehicle had collided with a light pole, knocking the light pole down, DeCroteau said, and nobody in the car.

DeCroteau said Melrose Police ran the license plate of the car and are following up on charges of leaving the scene of an accident after property damage.

Break-In At Used Car Dealership

Friday, Feb. 25, 8:52 a.m. The owner of Ro’s Auto Sales on the Newburyport Turnpike opened for business at approximately 8:15 a.m. and discovered someone had broken in through the backdoor of the trailer that serves as the business' office, DeCroteau said. The owner reported three laptops had been taken, worth approximately $1,000 each.

Monday, Feb. 21, 9:15 a.m. Stolen property recovered at Hunt’s Photo.

Wednesday, Feb. 23, 7:24 p.m. Several calls about a large pot hole in the area of Sheffield Road.

Wednesday, Feb. 23, 7:38 p.m. Caller reports large U-Haul truck stuck under the canopy at Vasco Gas on Main Street.

Thursday, Feb. 24, 4:23 p.m. Melrose-Wakefield Hospital staff calls to report a raccoon walking around the ground floor of the parking garage. The responding officer reported that the raccoon has left the building.

Saturday, Feb. 26, 6:15 p.m. Car struck 20-year-old pedestrian when taking left turn on to Main Street from Grove Street. Car was traveling at a low speed and accident was minor in nature.

A 50-year-old Melrose woman was issued a summons on Monday, Feb. 21 on the charge of driving away from a scene of property damage.

A 50-year-old Melrose man was issued a summons on Wednesday, Feb. 23 on the charge of threat to commit a crime.

Jessica M. Arria, 28, 45 Sandford St., Apt. 2, Melrose, was arrested on Thursday, Feb. 24 on the charge of a subsequent offense of driving with a suspended license, failing to stop/yield, and a warrant.

Vincent W. Mui, 20, 37 Lebanon St., Melrose, was arrested on Friday, Feb. 25 on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

A 49-year-old Melrose man was issued a summons on Friday, Feb. 25 on charges of assault and battery and threat to commit a crime.

A 29-year-old Wakefield resident was issued a summons on Saturday, Feb. 25 on the charge of threat to commit a crime. The same person was later issued a summons for OUI liquor.

A 24-year-old Melrose woman was issued a summons on Monday, Feb. 28 on the charge of larceny over $250.

A 33-year-old Lynn woman was placed under warrant arrest on Monday, Feb. 28.
