The caller told police that the men had exited a green car that had its lights off, even though it was in the street, arousing the resident's suspicion, Melrose Police Lt. Mark DeCroteau said.

Melrose Police arrived on scene minutes later and found three people in a green Honda—one in the driver's seat, one in the passenger seat and one person laying down in the back of the vehicle, which had no rear seats, DeCroteau said. In "plain view," DeCroteau said, the officers saw items such as GPS units and digital cameras in the Honda.

"Based on their interview, observations on the scene and observations in the area—  items in plain view in the vehicle and outside the vehicle, within steps of the vehicle— rhese individuals were placed under arrest," DeCroteau said, declining to identify the items outside the vehicle due to an ongoing investigation. "Several vehicles right in the area were found to have console opens and doors open."

Christopher A. Rivera, 19, 58 Crescent Ave., Chelsea; Ramon Berberena, 20, 24 Bowdoin St., Apt. 1, Malden; and a 16-year-old were each arrested on the charges of breaking and entering into a vehicle during the nighttime for a felony, and receiving stolen property worth more than $250.

Teenager Found Unconscious at Winthrop School on Saturday Night

DeCroteau said that officers responded and the teenager, who was alone in the playground, was taken to Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. The police log entry states "off-duty officer request an ambulance for a d.k.," with "d.k." normally referring to someone who is drunk. DeCroteau declined to give the teenager's exact age or to comment on the teenager's medical condition and whether or not that teenager had been drinking alcohol, due to medical privacy laws.

"That evening, there were several large group of youths being moved along in the area at the Common and Winthrop School," DeCroteau added.
