Man Arrested on Domestic Assault Charges

Thursday, Dec. 9, 10:02 p.m. Melrose Police responded to a multi-family home on Linden Road after receiving a report from one of the home's occupants regarding a domestic dispute in another of the home's units, according to Melrose Police Lt. Mark DeCroteau.

When officers arrived at the home, they found a woman with injuries who gone to a first floor apartment seeking help. The woman was transported by ambulance to the hospital; DeCroteau said he could not comment on the extent of her injuries, but there was no indication of a weapon used in causing the injuries.

Ian Lovett, 47, 22 Linden Road, Melrose, was arrested on the charge of assault and battery.

Refrigerator Left Out For DPW Pickup Stolen

Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1:22 p.m. A Prospect Street resident purchased a $15 disposal sticker from the Melrose Department of Public Works, placed the sticker on a refrigerator and placed it out on the curb for pickup, DeCroteau said.

The resident then saw a person pull up, pull the sticker off and take the refrigerator, DeCroteau said.

"The people that are out collecting the scrap metal, they're grabbing everything they can," he said. "My thought is that this was a scrap metal salvage."

Electrical Account Opened at Chelsea Home Where Person Has Not Lived for Eight Years

Wednesday, Dec. 8, 3:50 p.m. A woman reported to Melrose Police with NSTAR electric bills she had received at her Melrose home, DeCroteau said. However, the bills were for service to an address in Chelsea; the woman said she had not lived at that address for eight years. She previously owned the property.

"Someone apparently got her information off some mail and opened the electrical account," DeCroteau said. "That's under investigation. We're working with the electric company to try to identify the person, if that's possible."

Other Arrests and Summons

A 56-year-old Charlestown man was placed under warrant arrest on Wednesday, Dec. 8.

A 44-year-old Wakefield man was issued a summons on Thursday, Dec. 9 on the charge of threat to commit a crime.

Eino N. Heinonen, Jr., 64, 17 Conrad Road, Melrose, was arrested on Thursday, Dec. 9 on the charge of domestic assault and battery.

An 18-year-old Malden woman was issued a summons on Friday, Dec. 10 on the charge of assault and battery.
