Police Log: Melrose Man Facing Several Charges, Malden Men Arrested

At 11:59 p.m. Jan. 4, police received a report of a disabled motor vehicle in the area of Appleton and Lebanon Streets. Alberto Herrera, 21, of 73 Lebanon St., Melrose, was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of intoxicating liquor, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, failing to wear a seat belt and unsafe operation of a motor vehicle.

At 9:04 a.m. Jan. 3, Christopher Danieli, 38, of 25 Madison St., Malden, was arrested and charged with assault and battery and indecent assault and battery on a person 14 or over. The arrest stemmed from an altercation at a West Wyoming Avenue apartment a couple days earlier, according to police.

At 11:42 a.m., police served a warrant of apprehension at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. The individual was taken into custody and transported to a Malden court, according to police. Paul R. Walker, 45, of Econo Lodge, Malden, was arrested on a warrant.

Dec. 31

12:26 p.m.: A woman from Morgan Street visited the Police Station to report credit card fraud. A report was taken.

1:26 p.m.: A worker from Heavenly Licks on West Wyoming Avenue visited the Police Station to report damage to the property. A report was taken.

1:42 p.m.: A woman visited the Police Station to report a larceny at Elmhurst Nursin Home on Main Street. The woman reported jewelry was stolen at the property, according to police. A report was taken.

2:51 p.m.: Police called to Washington Street on a report of a motor vehicle accident. No injuries or tows logged. A report was taken.

4:40 p.m.: Police responded to the area of Lynn Fells Parkway and Charles Street on a report of a motor vehicle accident. No transports or tows logged. 

Jan. 1

1:22 a.m.: Police called to a Sewall Woods Road home for a report of a domestic disturbance. The caller claimed that their 17-year-old son was out of control, according to police. Peace was restored, according to police.

2:36 a.m.: Police responded to East Street for a report of a disturbance. The caller reported seeing a loud group in front of his home, according to police. The group left the area, according to police.

3:39 a.m.: Police called to Maple Grove Street for a report of vandalism. The caller reported that his vehicle was damaged, according to police. A report was taken.

1:55 p.m.: A Brazil Street resident visited the Police Station to report possible identity theft. A report was taken.

3:20 p.m.: Police called to Fuller House for a report of a past break-in. A report was taken.

Jan. 2

12:33 a.m.: Police responded to West Wyoming Avenue for a report of a motor vehicle accident. The caller requested an ambulance, according to police. One person transported to a hospital, according to police.

8:18 a.m.: Police called to Derby Road for a complaint about a person driving a white van that allegedly stopped in the area and took pictures of a house. A license plated could not be provided by the caller, who contacted officers about 30 minutes after the incident, according to police. 

2:47 p.m.: Police responded to Howard Street for a report of a motor vehicle accident. No injuries or tows logged. A report was taken.

8:05 p.m.: Police called to Stevens Place for a report of a sinkhole. Police confirmed the report and contacted the DPW to handle the issue. 

Jan. 3

1:39 a.m.: Police responded to the Marmion Road area. An unidentified caller from Marmion Road stated a group of males got out of a white Dodge, urinated on the side of the road and fled toward Lynn Fells Parkway, according to police. Police were unable to locate suspects. 

9:01 a.m.: Police called to the train depot at West Wyoming Avenue for a report of train gates stuck in the down position at West Wyoming Avenue and West Foster and West Emerson Streets. The MBTA Police, MBTA and commuter rail officials were notified. 

11:43 a.m.: Police checked on a suspicious vehicle on Franklin Street. Police discovered the vehicle was reported stolen out of Everett. The vehicle was towed from the area, according to police.

2:14 p.m.: Police responded to East Emerson Street on a complaint. The caller reported neighbor's door was smashed, according to police. Police to file a report.

4:30 p.m.: A Lynde Street resident visited the Police Station to report identity fraud. Police to file a report.

Jan. 4

2:53 a.m.: Police called to Main Street for a report of a noise ordinance violation. The caller complained about construction going on in the area, according to police. The construction crew stopped for the night, according to police. 

8:37 a.m.: Police responded to Melrose High School for a report of a larceny. A student reported a theft from their locker, according to police. A report was taken.

9:11 a.m.: Police called to the area of Melrose-Wakefield Hospital for a report of a motor vehicle accident. The caller reported a car traveled over a wall in the area, according to police. A report was taken.

10:24 a.m.: Police responded to Hunt Photo on Main Street on a complaint. The caller reported credit card fraud, according to police. A report was taken.

1:44 p.m.: Police called to West Foster Street for a report of a motor vehicle accident. No transports or tows reported. A report was taken.

1:47 p.m.: Police responded to the area of Dunkin' Donuts on Lynn Fells Parkway for a report of motor vehicle accident. The caller reported a postal worker struck motor vehicle parked in the fire lane, according to police. A report was taken.

4:28 p.m.: Police called to a Stevens Road for a report of a past breaking and entering. The caller reported a broken door at the residence, according to police. A report was taken.

9:07 p.m.: Police responded to Faxon Street for a complaint of kids allegedly throwing eggs at a house. Kids could not be located, according to police. 

Jan. 5

10:41 p.m.: Police called to a Green Street apartment for a report of a disturbance. The caller reported a possible theft and dispute, according to police. A report was taken.
