Police Log: Officers Investigate Two Vehicle Break-Ins in Melrose

The following is a sampling of entries from the Melrose Police log:

Melrose Police responded to two calls of breaking and entering into motor vehicles on Magnolia Road and Lincoln Street the morning of Oct. 15.

At 4:56 a.m., police called to Magnoliad Road for a report of a car broken into overnight. Police to file a report. At 6:33 a.m., police called to Lincoln Street about a car that was broken into, but nothing was stole. No report filed.

@10:44 a.m.: Police called to Pebble Street on a report of motor vehicle vandalism. A report was taken, according to police.

@12:13 p.m.: Police responded to the area of Willow and Essex Streets for a report of a motor vehicle crash. A car struck a fire hydrant, according to police. DPW notified. Hiltz Disposal was also contacted for operator's information, according to police.

@12:15 p.m.: Police called to Johnnie's Foodmaster for a report of suspicious activity. A man was trying to sell his EBT card for cash, according to police.

Oct. 9

@5:36 a.m.: Police responded to the area of West Wyoming Avenue and Corey Street for a report of a possible firearm found. Officers found a BB gun—not a real gun—near a temple, accoding to police. 

@10:10 a.m.: Police called to Sanford Street for a report of a BMX Mongoose bike that was stolen. A report was taken, according to police.

@5:19 p.m.: Police responded to Carlida Road on a report of a man speeding up and down the street, doing wheelies on his dirt bike. Police located the man and advised him of the law, and he told officers he would walk his bike home.

Oct. 10

@8:33 a.m.: Police called to West Emerson Street on a report of a hypodermic needle found on the sidewalk. The item was retrieved, and a report was taken, according to police.

@9:16 a.m.: Police responded to the area of Tremont and Franklin Streets for a report of a two-car accident. A report was taken, according to police.

@12:02 p.m.: Police called to Lebanon Street and Naples Road for a report of a motor vehicle accident. A report was taken, according to police.

@7:43 p.m.: Police responded to First Street on a report of a house fire; however, it turned out to be an oven fire and was quickly extinguished.

Oct. 11

@11:08 a.m.: Police called to First Baptist Church on a report of a larceny. A report was taken, according to police.

@1:33 p.m.: Police responded to the area of Rowe and East Emerson Street on a report of a motor vehicle accident. A report was taken.

@2:35 p.m.: Police called to Main Street for a report of an assault. A summons was sought for malicious damage to assault and a motor vehicle-related charge. A report was taken.

@4:02 p.m.: A woman visited the Police Station to report that her vehicle was hit from behind and the parties pulled over to exchanged information on West Foster Street. Stoneham Police was notified about the incident, according to police.

Oct. 12

@3:05 p.m.: Police called to Brooks Pharmacy for a report of two juveniles accused of shoplifting. The kids's parents were notified. No arrest logged. A report was taken, according to police.

@8:01 p.m.: Police responded to Woodcrest for a report of a past breaking and entering. A broken window was discovered at the home, according to police. A report was taken, according to police.

Oct. 13

@2:53 a.m.: Police called to the area of East Emerson Street and Bellevue Avenue for a report of a hypodermic needle found on the ground. Police collected the item and disposed of it properly.

Oct. 14

@11:09 a.m.: Police responded to a West Wyoming Avenue apartment for a report of a sudden death. State Police and medical examiner contacted, according to police. A report was taken, according to police.

@11:34 a.m.: Police called to the area of Franklin and Greenwood Streets for a report of a motor vehicle accident. Two vehicles towed, and an accident report taken, according to police.

@12:44 p.m.: Police responded to Melrose-Wakefield Hospital for a report of a motor vehicle accident in the parking lot.
