At 11:55 p.m. Jan. 10, Melrose Police responded to the area of West Wyoming Avenue and Main Street following several calls about shots fired in the area. Callers reported hearing five or six gun shots in the area, according to police.

Jan. 7

5:10 p.m.: Police responded to Ravine Road for a report of a past breaking and entering. Police filed a report.

6:07 p.m.: A resident visited the Police Station to report fraud.

6:39 p.m.: Police called to the Main and Grove Street area for a report of a motor vehicle accident. No tows or transports logged. Police filed a report.

Jan. 8

7:38 a.m.: Police responded to the area of Melrose and Ashland Streets for a report of a motor vehicle accident. Two cars were towed, according to police. 

8:39 a.m.: Police called to Dr. Jennifer Wu's office on Main Street for a report of vandalism. The caller reported that the side of the building was tagged, according to police.

9:40 a.m.: Police responded to the Levi Gould House on West Foster Street for a report of a sudden death. State Police and the state Medical Examiner's office were notified, according to police. A report was taken.

9:44 a.m.: Christopher Danieli, 38, of 2850 US Route 3, Thornton, N.H., was arrested on several warrants after he turned himself in at the Police Station. The charges were not noted in the log.

10:17 a.m.: Police responded to Towne Estates on Pleasant Street on a report of a larceny. The caller reported that a stove was stolen from the propety, according to police. Police filed a report.

4:28 p.m.: Police called to Cargill Street for a report of a domestic disturbance. Louis Dellagatta, 33, of 31 Cargill St., Melrose, was arrested and charged with domestic assault and battery. 

8:19 p.m.: A resident visited the Police Station to report fraud. A report was taken.

Jan. 9

1:48 a.m.: Police conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of Main Street and Bay State Road. Sam Silva-Farias, 18, of 10 Summit Ave., Apt. #1, Everett, was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of intoxicating liquor.

5:46 p.m.: Police responded to the area of Lebanon Street and Beech Avenue for a report of a motor vehicle accident. No tows or transports logged. Police filed a report.

5:51 p.m.: Police called to the area of Upham Street and Dell Avenue for a report of a past hit-and-run incident. A report was taken.

7:29 p.m.: Police responded to Penney Hill Road for a report of a domestic disturbance. John Proctor, 55, of 11 Penney Hill Road, Melrose, was arrested and charged with domestic assault and battery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (foot). A report was taken.

Jan. 10

12:06 p.m.: Police called to Newburyport Turnpike for a report of a motor vehicle accident. Police filed a report.

2:09 p.m.: Police responded to Dell Avenue on a report of suspicious activity in the area. Alex McCallum, 24, of 43 Upham St., Melrose, was arrested and charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and miscellaneous motor vehicle equipment violation. 

2:56 p.m.: Police called to Main Street for a report of a larceny. Police filed a report.

5:12 p.m.: A person visited the Police Station to report a motor vehicle accident in the Shaw's parking lot. A report was taken.

Jan. 11

8:15 a.m.: A Felton Lane resident visited the Police Station to report identity theft. A report was taken.

10:08 a.m.: Police responded to Green Street for a report of a larceny. The caller reported some jewelry stolen from the residence, according to police. A report was taken.

12:03 p.m.: Police responded to Wheeler Avenue for a report of identity theft. A report was taken.

Jan. 12

  • No major incidents to report.

Jan. 13

7:50 a.m.: Police called to the area of Howie and Franklin Streets for a report of a motor vehicle accident. No tows or transports logged.

5:50 p.m.: Police responded to Hurd Street for a report of an animal complaint. The caller reported that her cat may have rabies, according to police. The animal control officer was notified, according to police.
