Air Conditioner Removed In House Break Attempt

Wednesday, July 7, 9 a.m. Melrose Police received a report of an attempted breaking and entering to a home on Carlida Road. Melrose Police Det. Pam Daye said that and air conditioner was removed from a window, but it "doesn't appear they actually got in the house." The incident remains under investigation.

Cash Taken In Howard Street House Break

Friday, July 9, 5:54 a.m. A caller reported a past breaking and entering at a Howard Street home. Daye said the burglars broke glass on the front door of the home to enter and took cash. The incident is under investigation.

Jewelry Stolen From Unlocked House

Saturday, July 10, 9:57 p.m. A School Street resident reported arriving home and finding her home had been broke into. Daye said entry was made to the home through an open door and jewelry was stolen. The incident is under investigation.

Unsuccessful Safe Crackers

Sunday, July 11, 3:25 p.m. Melrose Police received a report of tampering with a safe from Blue Bell Cleaners on Grove Street. Daye said the burglar or burglars entered the business through a window overnight and attempted to break into the safe, but were unsuccessful in opening the safe.

Other Arrests and Summonses

A 41-year-old Melrose man was placed under warrant arrest on Wednesday, July 7 on the charge of being a fugitive from justice.

A 22-year-old Wilmington woman was issued a summons on Thursday, July 8 on charges of OUI drugs, possession of a Class A drug, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and speeding.

A 50-year-old Melrose man was issued a summons on Friday, July 9 on the charge of simple assault.

A 26-year-old Melrose woman was issued a summons on Friday, July 9 on the charge of assault and battery.
