Teen Reports Early Morning Assault

Saturday, May 28, 2:53 a.m. Melrose Police responded to after a 16-year-old reported getting jumped after midnight by four teenage boys.

The victim told police that he had been walking home with a friend when a car pulled up with four teenagers inside who he didn't know, Melrose Police Lt. Mark DeCroteau said. After a verbal exchange with the victim and his friend, the teenagers allegedly got out and attacked the two boys; one of the alleged assailants had something that the victim described as a metal baseball bat.

DeCroteau declined to comment on the victim's condition, citing medical privacy laws, and said that using the victim's description of the vehicle and suspects, the incident remains under investigation.

More Than $1,000 Worth of Jewelry, $2,000 Laptop Stolen in House Break

Monday, May 23, 3:04 p.m. Wildwood Road residents returned home to find that a door forced open and ajar, drawers gone through and more than $3,000 worth of possessions missing, DeCroteau said.

Most of the items stolen were pieces of jewelry, DeCroteau said, totaling over $1,000. Also missing were a laptop valued at $2,000 and various computer accessories, such as a wireless WiFi adapter, a mouse and a laptop bag. The break remains under investigation.

Other Arrests and Summonses

Albert C. Hickey, 66, 105 Whitman Ave., Melrose, was arrested on Thursday, May 26 on the charge of assault and battery.

Vinicio Joel Velasquez Marroquin, 25, 130 Western Ave., Apt. #2, Lynn, was arrested on Thursday, May 26 on charges of unlicesned operation of a vehicle and failing to stop/yield.

Samuel D. Lewis, 19, 3 Mount Vernon St., Apt. #3, Melrose, was arrested on Friday, May 27 on charges of breaking and entering into a building during the nighttime for a felony, and wanton destruction of property worth less than $250.

An 18-year-old Malden man was issued a summons on Saturday, May 28 on charges of breaking and entering into a vehicle for a misdemeanor and malicious damage to a vehicle.

Frank Fagone, 23, 64 Bayswater St., Apt. #1, East Boston, was arrested on Sunday, May 29 on charges of unlicensed operation of a vehicle, uninsured vehicle, and unregistered vehicle.
