Level 2 Sex Offender Registers After Being Sought by Detective

Tuesday, March 29: Melrose Police Det. Lt. Paul Norton was investigating the registration of a Level 2 sex offender, DeCroteau said.

"He is investigating that and he has since contacted that person and that person has registered," DeCroteau said.

Last Tuesday, Norton had applied for a summons for the person to appear in court.

"That was intent during the investigation, which he did make an application for—he applied for a summons and then a warrant—but in the interim was contacted by the person who has come in and registered," DeCroteau said. "It was a change of address. He was actually registered in a different city and the lieutenant received information that the person had moved here."
