Police Seek Man For Questioning About Winthrop School Break-In
A young man entered the Shell gas station on Main Street with blood on his shirt and hands, Melrose Police allege, shortly after police responded to a break-in at the Winthrop School where blood was found inside the building.

On Thursday, police released surveillance photos from Shell that showed a young man that Melrose Police say entered the gas station at 3:15 a.m. on Monday with blood on his shirt and hands. He may have been in a gray GMC Envoy.
A half-hour earlier, police had responded to a resident's report of the sound of breaking glass at the Winthrop School and someone running from the area. Police found a broken window on the Ashcroft Street side of the school and .

Also that morning, just before 5 a.m., an Ashcroft Road resident discovered someone had broken the rear passenger side window of their car and a GPS unit stolen.
Melrose Police Chief Mike Lyle previously told Melrose Patch that "there was a considerable amount of blood" inside the car and that police believe the Winthrop break-in and car break-in could be related.
