UPDATED: Police Warn of Unsolved Attack at Bellevue

Police are investigating an apparent attack on a female victim at the park last Saturday, and urging residents use caution in the area.

UPDATE: Saturday, 12:25 p.m.

A statement provided by Melrose Police said that the attack at Bellevue Country Club is still under investigation.

"The incident in question was reported to the Melrose Police during the late afternoon hours of Wednesday, Oct. 31," the statement said. "The investigation was initiated immediately upon the Police Department receiving the report from the reporting party."

After the initial report, police conducted interviews including those of neighboring residents, other law enforcement agencies, and information regarding the case was "released expediently."

"This appears to be an isolated incident, and there no other similar incidents reported in the area," the statement said. The incident occurred mid-day on Saturday, Oct. 27, according to police.

Melrose police say they are investigating an apparent attack on a female victim near the Bellevue Golf Course grounds last Saturday, and are urging residents to exercise caution in the area. 

The male perpetrator approached the victim from behind and knocked her to the ground in a wooded path in the park, according to a police press release. 

The victim was able to scream and effectively ward off the assault, prompting the perpetrator to flee. 

The suspect is described as a white male of unknown age, wearing red athletic shoes.
