Letter: Mayor Says Thanks For DPW Day

Mayor Rob Dolan thanks everyone who made the 10th annual DPW Day a success.

To the editor,

I would like thank all those who made our 10th annual DPW Day such a memorable event. Once again we were able to open up our City Yard to the students of Melrose so they could learn about the infrastructure of our city—and have some fun in the process.

This event would not have been possible without a great deal of extra work on the part of many people. I would like to especially thank Ann Waitt, Dickie O’Donnell, Jessie Schmitt, Marisa Kelly, Tina Bright, Bob Beshara, John Scenna, Nick Gove, the DPW staff, the Parks and Recreation Department, the Board of Aldermen, the Energy Commission, the Melrose Police Department, Memorial Hall, the Melrose Public Schools, and the staff and volunteers in my own office, who all worked together to make this event a success.

I would also like to recognize and thank our sponsors who made these activities possible: D&R General Contractors, Capuano Construction, Covanta, HP Hood, LaRovere Insurance, State Representative Paul Brodeur, Empire Recycling, Chartwell, Melrose Glass, Johnny’s Foodmaster, American Sweeping, JJ Grimsby’s, TD Bank, JRM Hauling and Recycle, The T Stop, and the Melrose Elks

Finally, I would like to thank the teachers who made time to bring their classes to DPW Day, and the parents and volunteers who helped chaperone them. Your participation is crucial to the success of the day.
