Letter: Turco Asks For Melrosians' Vote

Al Turco is running for re-election to the Massachusetts Republican State Committee.

Open Letter to Republicans and Independents Who Decide to Vote in Tomorrow's Republican Presidential Primary:

As many of you know, the Republican Presidential Primary is tomorrow. My name is on that ballot as a candidate for re-election as Republican State Committeeman in our senate district.

The Republican City and Town Committees in Melrose, Malden, Reading, Stoneham and Wakefield endorsed my candidacy as have Charlie Baker, Richard Tisei, Brad Jones, Donald Wong and many other active and activist Republicans.
I believe it's important that each of us do our best to restore two-party accountability in Massachusetts. I believe in smaller government, less regulation and low taxes, and I'm convinced that, in order for us to be successful, our party must welcome newcomers who share our values.

Over the past two years, I have worked hard to recruit and support Republicans willing to run for public office. Some of those candidates won and some lost, but I was proud and happy to support all of them.

My state committee race is contested. I have a well funded young opponent named Robert Aufiero. Last week, numerous friends and supporters called and emailed to report that my opponent's expensive district-wide mailings falsely implied (by picturing himself with Scott Brown) that he was endorsed by Senator Brown.

I can assure you that Senator Brown did not endorse my opponent. I and many others find my opponent's mailings to be an unfortunate way for a young man to begin a political career.

If re-elected as the Republican State Committeeman in the Fifth Middlesex Senate District, I will continue to work diligently to strengthen our Republican city and town committees and to help elect GOP candidates to state and federal office.
I respectfully ask Republicans and Independents who take a Republican ballot tomorrow to vote for me so I can continue to serve on the Massachusetts Republican State Committee and do my part as a volunteer to advance efforts to restore fiscal prudence and honest governance in our state.

Regards,
Al Turco
