Letter: Ward 3 Alderman Frank Wright Asks For Your Vote

Frank Wright is running unopposed in his re-election campaign for the Melrose Board of Aldermen.

To the residents of Ward 3:

As incumbent Ward 3 alderman, I appreciate the continuing opportunity to get to know, work with and represent the residents of Ward 3.  I ask for your vote on election day, Tuesday, November 8th.

As a member of the Board of Aldermen I have worked with the administration to find creative ways to allow Melrose to not only maintain levels of service during the ongoing financial crisis, but make dynamic improvements, such as the recent street, sidewalk and lighting improvements along West Emerson Street at Cedar Park as well as the business district on West Wyoming Avenue, install white boards in our schools, build new athletic fields at the high school and Pine Banks and add a new HVAC system to Memorial Hall which has allowed year round use.

I am proud to have sponsored several orders that have granted real estate and excise tax relief to Melrose residents serving our nation overseas in the military, as well as the special act that allows the Traffic Commission to establish traffic safety zones around elderly buildings and our senior center, as well as by our parks.

My "day job" as a municipal attorney allows me to address a variety of municipal issues, many of which are also being faced by cities and towns across Massachusetts.  These include issues related to public works, public safety, municipal finance and public procurement.  My daily experiences continue to expand my understanding of what it takes to successfully manage a city, particularly in these difficult times.

As a Ward 3 homeowner for the past 20 years, I understand city services impact our everyday lives.  Constituent services are an important part of being an elected official. I pride myself on responding to constituents questions and concerns promptly.

Finally, I greatly appreciate having been able to serve Ward 3 these past six years. I ask for your continued support on election day, November 8th, and invite residents who have any questions or comments related to city services to contact me.  I can be found on Facebook at 'Alderman Frank Wright' or emailed at fxwright@cityofmelrose.org. Thank you.
