Paul C. Blasi, Master of the Wyoming Lodge AF & AM, and former Master Richard Pitts recently presented Mayor Rob Dolan with a donation of $1,000 for the Melrose Emergency Fund, according to a city press statement.

The donation was made by the Wyoming Lodge and the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts, according to the statement.

"The Masons have been a pillar of our community for many years," Dolan said in the statement. "They have worked quietly over the years to make Melrose a better place in many ways. This donation is very much appreciated, and it will help us achieve our goal that no Melrose child will go cold or hungry this year."

"Growing up in Melrose, I passed the Masonic Hall many times without knowing what they did there," Blasi said in the statement. "Today, as the current Lodge Master, I know that Charity and Relief are core values of Freemasonry. The members recognized Mayor Dolan's Emergency Fund as an excellent opportunity to honor these traditions. We are glad to support the local community we have been a part of for so long.

"Many of our members are from Melrose, or have roots here. We look forward to seeing many of our friends and neighbors at the upcoming Victorian Fair. We will be at the YMCA, running a MyC.H.I.P child ID and abduction awareness program and an open house at the Lodge Building with a guest speaker."
