Melrose Dog Owners Rewarded Through "I Heart My Dog" Program

Dog owners who purchase or renew their licenses for their pooches can receive discounts at local businesses.

Melrose residents have an incentive to make sure they've purchased or renewed their dog licenses this year.

By purchasing a 2011 dog license at the , then showing your dog's license paperwork at participating local pet businesses, Melrosians can get a discount or special offer. Discounts will vary from month to month; currently the discounts available are:

  • A Better Companion, 162 Tremont St.: Starting March 1, the spring offer is $15 off grooming or $15 off one day of daycare (subject to acceptance into daycare).
  • Breeder's Choice Grooming Salon, 163 West Emerson St.: $16 off a full grooming. Call 781-665-0804 to book an appointment.
  • MTC Pet Services and Dog Walking: Free initial consultation and $5 off first dog walking or pet visit.
  • Pet Life, 93 Main St., Stoneham: Free tennis ball.
  • , 486 Main St.: Free nail clipping.

To redeem these rewards, show your Melrose dog license paperwork that came with your dog's 2011 license. If you need a new copy of this paperwork, you can pick it up at the on the lower level of Melrose City Hall, or send a request with a self-addressed stamped envelope to Melrose Canine Control, 562 Main St., Melrose, MA 02176. The participating businesses decide what reward to offer and the duration of the offer.
