French Toast Alert Level:

State of Emergency:

  • The city has not declared a state of emergency. Gov. Deval Patrick has declared a state of emergency for Massachusetts and called up the National Guard.

Emergency Parking Restrictions:

  • There are no parking restrictions in effect. Melrose Towers Condominiums residents are being asked, as of Saturday, to move their cars to the Melrose High School parking lot.

Cancellations and Closings:

  • Trinity Church's on Sunday will be postponed and the church will hold a regular 9 a.m. service for those who are able to be there.
  • The scheduled for Sunday has been postponed.
  • The plans to be open its normal weekend hours this weekend but will re-evaluate the situation hourly. Check the website and Y's Facebook page all weekend long for the latest advisory.

  • announced on Sunday at 5 p.m. they were closing for the rest of the evening and would re-open on Monday at 4 p.m.
  • DCR Parks, Recreational Facilities, Day Use Areas, and Waterfront Areas: Beginning at noon on Saturday, Aug. 27, DCR will close all parks, recreational facilities, day use areas, and waterfront areas statewide. DCR anticipates that these areas will remain closed throughout the weekend and on Monday, August 29. Following an assessment of each facility and weather conditions, DCR will make efforts to begin re-opening its facilities on Tuesday, August 30. Additionally, unlike other beaches that will be open on Saturday morning, Salisbury Beach and Horseneck Beach will not open at all on Saturday due to the increased expectation of rip tides. DCR asks that the public refrain from visiting these areas prior to and during the storm.
  • Logan Airport reports that airlines be operating a thinned schedule this weekend with very few flights on Sunday (if any). Normal operations are expected to resume Monday midday. This may change depending on Irene’s speed and storm track. Check with your airline on flight status.
