Most Melrose Voters "Unenrolled," Dems Outnumber Republicans 3:1
When it comes to party enrollment, how does Melrose compare to its neighbors?
Despite an increasingly partisan and divisive political culture at the national level, state elections data reveals a serious independent streak among Melrosian voters.
The commonwealth's latest figures show 52.3 percent of Melrose's voters were registered as "unenrolled," meaning they considered themselves neither Republicans, Democrats or members of the Green-Rainbow party.
35.3 percent were Democrats and 11.35 percent were Republicans, records show. Only 11 voters, about .06 percent, were members of the Green-Rainbow Party.

Before you pat Melrosians on the back for post-partisanship, note below that these figures aren't that unusual in Massachusetts: as a whole, unenrolled voters represent the largest chunk, with 52.2 percent declining to register with a party.
