POLL: Should National Banks Be Required to Offer Free Checking?

Give your opinion on a new campaign by the secretary of state.

Secretary of State William F. Galvin has said he would pressure Bank of America and other national banks with branches in Massachusetts to give children and the elderly free checking accounts, according to a report by Boston.com.

Galvin announced his plan, the report said, after learning that the bank was testing new fees in the state that it planned to roll out across the country.
