State Primary Today: Polls Open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The polls are open today from 7 a.m.-8 p.m. for the state primary. Check Melrose Patch throughout the day for reports from each polling location and on voter turnout. For all Melrose residents planning to vote in today's primary, here is what you need to know:

Who Can Vote:
Massachusetts uses a semi-closed primary system. Voters who have registered with a particular party may vote only in that party's primary. Voters registered as unenrolled must choose a party's primary in which to cast their ballot. Democratic, Republican and Libertarian ballots are available in today's primary, although there are no Libertarian candidates on the ballot:
