Voting Registration Deadline, Maine Earthquake and Presidential Debate

Here are five things to know for Wednesday, Oct. 17:

1. Last chance: Wednesday, Oct. 17 is the voting registration deadline in Massachusetts. Citizens not registered to vote in Melrose and who will be 18 years or older on or before Nov. 6, can register by mail or in person at the City Clerk’s Office. Registration hours are 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Town Clerk's Office.

2. Tremors felt: A 4.0 magnitude earthquake in Maine Tuesday night was felt across much of New England, including Stoneham, but no major damage or injuries were reported immediately after the quake, according to Gov. Deval Patrick's Office.

3. Round two: President Barack Obama and challenger Mitt Romney held their second presidential debate Tuesday night. Let us know who you think won by posting the winner's name in a comment on this post.
