Temple Beth Shalom School Open House

Temple Beth Shalom, 21 East Foster St., Melrose, will hold open house and registration for its Hebrew School program on Sunday, September 12, 2010, beginning at 11:30 AM. Classes will begin one week later on September 19.

The school's new Education Director, Joyce Siegel, will be available to meet parents and students during the Open House on the 12th.

Ms. Siegel brings to the Shalom School considerable experience in Jewish education. She holds a B.A. in Psychology, a Certificate in Jewish Family Education and a Masters in Jewish Education from Hebrew College, Newton.

She served as a Classroom Teacher, Hebrew tutor and Family Educator at Congregation B'nai Shalom in Westborough for many years, Program Director at the Westboro Area JCC, as well as the  Director of Tapestry of Jewish Life, bringing educational and cultural programming to Central Massachusetts.  In addition Joyce worked for the Jewish Federation of Central Massachusetts supervising two Israeli emissaries (shlichim) and taught at the regional Jewish High School in Worcester.

The Shalom School offers classes for students in preschool through grade 10 and provides expert tutoring services for B'nai Mitzvah students.

According to Nancy Kukura, President of Temple Beth Shalom, "We offer an exciting, dynamic, and progressive Hebrew School program with a skilled and nurturing staff dedicated to introducing children to a Jewish education."

Temple Beth Shalom is a Reform congregation serving the Jewish community north of Boston, including Melrose, Malden, Wakefield, Saugus, Stoneham, and Reading.
