Melrose Public Schools, City Hall Closed Friday; On-Street Parking Ban Announced

Neither Melrose Public Schools or City Hall will be open on Friday, Jan. 3.

Neither Melrose Public Schools or City Hall will be open on Friday, Jan. 3, according to Mayor Rob Dolan's blog.

The Melrose area is expected to get roughly a foot of snow Thursday into Friday, according to multiple forecasts. An on-street parking ban goes into effect at 10 p.m. Thursday through 10 a.m. Friday, according to the blog.

"The Public Works Operations Center at the City Yard on Tremont Street will be open and fully staffed for at least the next 24 hours," said Dolan in the blog post, adding that all snow-related calls should be directed to 781-665-0142.

The mayor is asking folks to shovel off vehicles in their driveways and not in the street, help those who can't shovel clear their sidewalks and also clear fire hydrants to assist the Fire Department in case of an emergency.
