Whiz Kid: Coy Walker, a Young Ambassador to the Governor

The eighth grader represented Melrose at a Martin Luther King Jr. day of service.

Melrose Patch Whiz Kid of the Week: Coy Walker

  • Accomplishment: For his work within the city, Coy was chosen to represent Melrose at a statewide community service day in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. 

On Jan. 14, Coy Walker joined students from the other 350 cities and towns in Massachusetts to talk about issues among youth and how they could become leaders and help their communities. He met Gov. Deval Patrick, the honorary chair of Project 351, and visited non-profits including Boston Cares, City Year, Citizens Schools, and Cradles to Crayons.
