On Friday, Dec. 9, six Accounting students from Mrs. McBride's class at Melrose High School attended the Is Accounting for Me? From College to Career Conference at Bentley University.

During the conference, which was sponsored by the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants, Inc., seniors Gabriela Arruda, Rebecca Figueroa, Nancy Lan, Anny Perez, Jazmyn Smart, and Kelly Truong  learned about the realities of accounting as a career from a panel of four CPAs, who shared their experiences and answered student questions.

They also spoke with a panel of Bentley students about college life, course offerings, and the accounting program at Bentley and had an opportunity to engage in a hands-on exercise, entering sales information for a fictitious company using the same accounting program that freshmen students at Bentley use. After a brief tour of the campus, students were treated to lunch, where they could network with other accounting students and professionals.
