Whiz Kids: National German Exam Aces
Because of their achievement, two students might be eligible to take a free trip to Germany.
Melrose Patch Whiz Kids of the Week: Freshman Madison Forsberg and sophomores Jonathan Hori, Finn O’Brien and Monika O’Shea.
- School: Melrose High
- Accomplishment: The students scored above the 90th percentile on the German language proficiency test.
From Melrose High School's Foreign Language Department Chair Kim Talbot:
Jonathan Hori and Monika O’Shea both reached 99 percent, and are among the top 10 German students in Massachusetts for their grade level. The students are eligible for a four-week, all expenses paid trip to Germany this summer, sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of German and the Pedagogical Exchange Service. If chosen, they get to live with a German family, attend a German high school and participate in excursions to places of cultural and historical significance.
