The scholarship will allow these students to attend for a state college for free.

From Melrose High School teacher Lisa Lord: 

These 12 seniors join the 70 seniors who were named Adams scholars by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in September. To be named Adams Scholars, students must earn MCAS scores at the advanced level on the grade 10 English language arts test, scores at the proficient level or above on the grade 10 mathematics test, and their combined score on the two tests must place them in the top 25 percent of students in the graduating class in their district.

The John and Abigail Adams Scholarship provides a tuition waiver for recipients for up to eight semesters of undergraduate education at a Massachusetts state college or university.
