Clark & Brodeur Announce State Grant Supporting Melrose Cultural Community

Boston, MA - Senator Katherine Clark (D-5th Middlesex) and Representative Paul Brodeur (D-32nd Middlesex) are pleased to announce that the Massachusetts Cultural Council has approved $7,810 in funding to the Melrose Cultural Council.

The MCC’s announcement was made as part of a statewide funding initiative to support a variety of cultural programs and activities in communities throughout the Commonwealth.

“These grants play a central role as we work to develop our local cultural council programs,” said Senator Clark. “With the help of this grant, the Melrose Cultural Council will be able to continue its mission of supporting local arts programs for the community.”

The Local Cultural Council Program supports thousands of community-based initiatives throughout Massachusetts and is the largest grassroots cultural funding network in the nation, providing quality cultural experiences available to all citizens.

“Our local cultural councils provide this district with an important and meaningful service,” said Representative Brodeur. “I am glad the state has allocated these funds for the arts.”

The MCC is a state agency supporting the arts, sciences, and humanities to improve the quality of life in Massachusetts and its communities. It pursues its mission through a combination of grants, services, and advocacy for nonprofit cultural organizations, schools, communities, and artists. MCC's total budget for the current fiscal year is $11.2 million, which includes annual grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and other sources.
