Melrose National All-Stars in First Place, Lead Tournament in Runs

The 11-year-olds All-Star team has a 6-0 record in the 2011 Jimmy Fund Tournament so far this summer.

The Melrose National 11 Year Old All Stars are off to a great start in the 2011 Jimmy Fund All Star tournament. The team is in 1st place with a 6-0 record. They are leading the tournament in runs scored with 88 and have allowed the least number of runs scored with 21.

Melrose National-15 vs. Somerville-3
Nick Chan, Dan Riley and Gavin Prodgers pitched well in the opening game. Avery Davis, Darwin Anderson and Ian Libby had multiple hit games. The defense was anchored with Mike Cunningham, Patrick Rosett and Harry Kumm making plays.

Melrose National-15 vs. Malden East-1
Gavin Prodgers was in control allowing one run over 5 innings. Avery Davis hit a 3-run homer and Prodgers smoked a grand slam. Cory Bright (2 hits), Jared Crowell, Ian Libby, Patrick Rosetti, Nick Chan, Mike Cunningham and Darwin Anderson rounded out the 14 hit attack. Dan Riley and Harry Kumm played well defensively.

Melrose National-24 vs. North Medford-6
Jared Crowell, Cory Bright, Avery Davis and Mike Cunningham split the duties on the hill. Davis (3 hits), Bright (3 hits), Gavin Prodgers (2 hits) and Nick Chan (3 hits) had multiple hit games. Crowell, Harry Kumm, Dan Riley and Mike Cunningham collected base hits. The defense had Partick Rosetti, Ian Libby and Darwin Anderson making plays.

Melrose National-18 vs. Churchill American-4
Cory Bright pitched one run baseball and crushed a first inning grand slam to lead the way against the cross town American League. The National League plated 11 runs in the first on hits from Dan Riley (3 hits), Avery Davis (2 hits), Jared Crowell (2 hits) and Mike Dreske (2 hits). Mike Cunningham finished up on the hill and Patrick Rosetti, Nick Chan, Darwin Anderson, Ian Libby, Gavin Prodgers and Harry Kumm played flawless defense.

Melrose National-8 vs. Everett-2
Cory Bright threw a one hitter over 5 innings in the clash of the two remaining undefeated teams. Avery Davis hit a three run homer and Bright collected three hits to lead the charge. Jared Crowell and Mike Dreske collected the other base hits. The defense was anchored by Harry Kumm, Patrick Rosetti, Nick Chan, Gavin Prodgers, Ian Libby, Darwin Anderson and Dan Riley.

Melrose National-8 vs. West Medford-5
Jared Crowell pitched 5 innings of 3 hit baseball for the victory. The offense was lead by Harry Kumm, Darwin Anderson, Cory Bright, Patrick Rosetti, Ian Libby and Crowell. The defense played well with Gavin Prodgers, Nick Chan, Dan Riley, Avery Davis, Mike Cunningham and Mike Dreske  making the plays.
