Melrose Native Named to Capital One Academic All-District Volleyball Team

Hannah Brickley, a Melrose native and Trinity College senior, was recently named to the 2013 Capital One Academic All-District Volleyball Team, according to a press statement.

Brickley, an outside hitter and tri-captain at Trinity College, earned a 4.0 grade point average as a biology major. She also helped guide her team to a 15-12 record and reached the quarterfinals of the New England Small College Athletic Conference Championship Tournament before falling 3-2 to Bowdoin College.

A four-year starter, Brickley led Trinity in kills with 355, attacks with 1,151, and digs with 372 and added 20 aces and 46 blocks (third on team) with a .220 hitting percentage (second on team) in 2013, according to the statement. She was named to the all-tournament teams in both the Brandeis Invitational and the Hall of Fame Invitational, reads the statement.

Brickley, a two-time All-NESCAC honoree (First Team in 2011, Second Team in 2012), a 2011 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-New England First Team selection, a 2011 New England Women's Volleyball Association (NEWVA) All-New England Third Team selection, and a 2012 NEWVA Honorable Mention, according to the statement. Brickley set a college record for kills per set in a season with 4.20 in 2011, and ranks second all-time at Trinity in kills (1,257) and attacks (3,85), and fifth all time in digs (1,212) and hitting percentage (.216), the statement adds.

Brickley has received several honors, including NESCAC All-Academic recognition in 2011 and 2012, Capital One Academic All-District last fall, and Trinity's Junior Female Scholar Athlete of the Year (Board of Fellows) Award in the spring, according to the statement. She was also Trinity's representative on the NESCAC All-Sportsmanship Team in 2010, the statement adds.
