The Melrose High girls lacrosse team lost to Burlington on Tuesday, 20-10.
The Melrose High girls lacrosse team had a rough go of it on Tuesday at Pine Banks Park. Not only did the Lady Raiders have to deal with steady rain and a cold wind, but they had to contend with a potent Burlington offense that scored 20 points as Melrose fell 20-10.
Morgan McBride, Maggie Moriarty, Tricia McDermott, Kelli Halligan, Kailey Rawston and Kate Hinkle all scored for Melrose (0-1), but the Burlington offense was just too tough to contain.
"The bad news is we lost," said head coach Cate Arkins. "The good news is we know what we need to work on: ground balls, transitioning the ball and more communication on the field. And the best news is the girls demonstrated good sportsmanship and teamwork throughout the entire game."
