St. Fleur Takes Second at All-State Meet
Melrose High sophomore Bionca St.Fleur took second place in the long jump this past weekend at the MIAA All-State Championships with a distance of 17-06.25.
sophomore track phenom Bionca St. Fleur put in an impressive performance at the 26th Annual MIAA All-State Indoor Track Championships this past weekend at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.
St. Fleur took second place out of 26 in the long jump with a distance of 17-06.25. The sophomore also anchored Melrose’s 4 x 200 team of Jasmine Bertrand-Halidy, Kaitlin Gilbert and Laura Whelan, which finished sixth overall and just 33/100ths of a second behind the fifth place Lowell team.
Bertrand-Halidy also took ninth in the 55 meter dash with a time of 7.47.

On the boys side, junior Kevin Persons ran a 36.35 to take seventh place in the 300 while Cody Lusas finished 10th in the shot put with a 48-3.75.
Persons took first place in the 300 at the MIAA Div. 3 North Championship the weekend before with a 36.24 while Lusas took second in the shot put at that meet with a 51-3.

Overall the girls team finished 15th at the meet while the boys finished 47th.
