The Weekend: Theater, Ballet and Farmer's Market

Check out these events happening in Melrose this weekend, including two just for kids.

Why Go: This week at the artist table there will be Artful Indulgence; at the non-profit organization table Ovarian Cancer Coalition; at the business table Lilah Rose and music by Gianna Scioletti. And as always, shop for local produce, baked goods, fish and other fine foods.

Why Go: Two young lookalikes, Tom Canty, a poor boy from a London slum, and Prince Edward, son of the famous Henry VIII of England, exchange places for what is meant to be "only an hour or two." Orginally a novel by Mark Twain, The Prince and the Pauper is a lively musical adventure. Children entering grades 5-9 from Melrose, Wakefield, Lynn, Saugus, Reading, Lynnfield, and Winchester will be featured in the musical.

Why Go: Kids can hang out for a couple of hours, eat lunch, jump in the bounce house and play games. 

Price: $1 for a slice of pizza or a drink.

Why Go: Teens in grades six to nine are welcome to hang out every Friday night at the YMCA's teen center, where there will be video games, billiards, ping pong, basketball and dodgeball. 

Price: $3. Attendees must fill out a waiver at the site.

Why Go: See an original production set to Antonio Vivaldi’s famous composition of music. The show is an original collaboration of classical ballet and contemporary dance; featuring work by Jaclyn Demianiuk, Christina Leonard-Kristan and guest choreographers, Tara Tomassiello, and Anthony Williams.
