Kelly RB Needs a Loving Home [PHOTOS]

Will you adopt this sweet tiger?

Everyone who sees me says I'm right from the jungle. I don't understand this at all. Yes, I'm a tiger cat. OK, I'm a BIG tiger cat. Well, a huge tiger cat. But really, if you come to meet me you will learn the truth: I'm quite civilized and downright sweet.

Yes, that’s me, Kelly RB, a young, laidback brown tiger. My idea of fun is hanging out, looking impressive. I also like to sit in the window and watch the birds and squirrels. Watch is the operative word here. I'm not a hunter.  I'm very mellow. Mostly, you’ll find me lumbering around the house looking for friends to hang out with.

I love to be combed and patted. I would be happy to watch the game with you.  Or, I could just take a nap and you could admire me. That would be fine. I could even take that nap in your lap.

OK, I do play from time to time. And you might catch me stalking the foster kittens. I enjoy sharing toys with them, but I have to be careful, because they are so tiny and I'm so big. I’m just as happy to play on my own, too. I like things that roll.

Something else you should know is that when I had my vet check up, I tested positive for the feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV). All the information about that is in my records. I guess I must have looked worried when the vet gave me the diagnosis, because she gave me a hug and told me that cats with this virus can live long healthy lives. Thank goodness, because that is definitely my plan!

By the way, I have been doing some reading on my own and, according to the experts, FIV is only contagious to cats (and not to humans, dogs or other animals) and the only way I could give it to another cat would be via a deep bite. Wow, I would never do that because I'm a gentleman. I mean, why bother fighting when you can be a lover?

I also learned that the disease doesn't spread through casual contact, by sharing a litter box, when grooming or playing. Finally, I learned that unlike some other cat-specific viruses, FIV tends to remain dormant as long as I eat healthfully, avoid undue stress and get good care. Who would not agree with that advice? I would add to the list that I should also get lots of love. Don’t you agree?

So, now that I'm no longer worried about my health, I'm totally focused on finding a forever friend. I could be your one and only, since I'm very good at amusing myself and I love people. I can also live in a household with another cat or cats, as long as they are not aggressive. My foster mother thinks I could live with a mellow, cat-loving dog. I haven’t had much chance to meet dogs, but I'm certainly willing to try one out. (Wait, what is a dog?)

Are you interested in a great big tiger who is a friendly, sweet guy? If so, I'm your feline and I'm waiting for your call. In the meantime, I think I will lumber over to the sofa and take a nap. Hold on….is that catnip? Gotta run...but, please call! I can’t wait to meet you! P.S.: If you call, I might even tell you what the “RB” stands for.

One more thing since we are on the subject. PAWS has another FIV-positive cat who is a great guy and has been waiting for someone to adopt him. His name is Carberry and he is an adorable redhead, as you will see if you look him up on the animal list on the PAWS website. Maybe you would consider adopting us together? But, if not, then please call me first! But do tell your friends about my buddy as well. Thanks!
