Why Go: Have dinner or a even a snack at Liberty Bell Roast Beef & Seafood from 5-8 p.m. and raise funds for the Roosevelt Elementary School's Technology Fund. No coupon required—8 percent of your bill goes to the fund.

When/Where: Wednesday, Nov. 9, 7 p.m. /  , 585 Lebanon St., Melrose

Why Go: Discussion during this class for parents will include the importance of raising a boy with a balance of encouragement for expressing emotions and sensitivity, the freedom to try new challenges, and how to take on appropriate challenges without engaging in risky behavior. The class will also look at the importance of positive family relationships in the development of confident and caring males.

Pricing: $5 per person, $10 with certificate of attendance.

When/Where: Thursday, Nov. 10, 6:30 p.m. / , 80 West Wyoming Ave., Melrose

Why Go: The popular annual event returns to the Lincoln School cafetorium, where Melrosians can enjoy delicious international foods and meet Melrosians from around the world and from all walks of life. There's also activities for children.

Pricing: Free.

When/Where: Thursday, Nov. 10, 7 p.m. / , 2 Short St., Melrose

Why Go: This month’s feature is Lloyd Thayer, a multi-instrumentalist whose gritty style embraces blues, folk, country, and rock. Playing guitar, harmonica, lap steel, slide guitar and autoharp, Thayer entertains with his music and stories. He will perform a 30-minute set at 8:20. Musicians are then invited to play two songs or 10 minutes during the open mic.

Pricing: Admission is $4 ($3 for seniors and students).

When/Where: Saturday, Nov. 12, 10 a.m. / , 350 Lynn Fells Parkway, Melrose

Why Go: It's the last week to donate to Cradles to Crayons, which Sen. Katherine Clark is partnering with again this year. Cradles to Crayons collects new and gently used clothing, art supplies, baby supplies like blankets and car seats, and other necessities in drop boxes around the district.

Collection boxes are at the , the and the until Nov. 11. 

On Nov. 12, the collected items will be sorted at the middle school from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Not only is this a great cause, but it is a lot of fun!  Volunteers are needed, and students will be eligible for community service credit.
