Bread of Life Walk/Run Kicks Off Sunday at Pine Banks Park

The 21st annual Bread of Life Walk for Bread and 5K Fun Run gets underway at noon on Sunday at Pine Banks Park.

The 21st annual Bread of Life Walk for Bread and 5K Fun Run gets underway at noon on Sunday at Pine Banks Park.

The event runs from 12-3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6 at the park located on the Melrose-Malden line. Event registration starts at noon, while the walk/run begins at 1 p.m.

"This event benefits the local non-profit, Bread of Life, which provided about 930,000 meals last year to families in need in Malden, Melrose, Everett, Medford, Wakefield, Stoneham, Winchester, Saugus, Reading and North Reading," reads the event page.

Teens participating in the event will be credited with 3-5 hours of community by running, walking, collecting donations or cleaning up the site, according to the event page.

Jiblantos, a local band, will be performing during the event. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase, and kids activities and Henna tattoos

Walkers and runners will receive a t-shirt if they raise a minimum of $15 and $20, respectively.
