Horace Mann Pumpkin Festival Gets Underway Saturday

Check out five things going on in the Melrose area from Oct. 5-6.

Here is a sampling of five things to do in the Melrose area from Oct. 5-6:

1. Get in the fall spirit at the Horace Mann Pumpkin Festival, which kicks off at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5 at Horace Mann Elementary School, according to an event posting on Melrose Patch. Pumpkins will be on sale and a variety of activities are planned for the festival including a haunted house and donut-eating contest, to name a few.

2. The Bread of Life 21st annual Walk for Bread & 5K Fun Run runs from 12-3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6 at Pine Banks Park, according to an event posting on Melrose Patch.

3. A home in Melrose is being featured as part of the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association’s 14th annual Green Building Open House at 9:15 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5 at 85 Laurel St., according to an event posting on Melrose Patch.

4. Melrose Fire Department is hosting a fire safety open house from 12-2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, according to an event posting on Melrose Patch.

5. Temple Beth Shalom is offering Shalom Tots, an educational program geared toward families with children who are not yet old enough for the Shalom School, at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, according to an event posting on Melrose Patch.
