The Martin Luther King Day of Service in Melrose gets underway Saturday, Jan. 18.

The Martin Luther King Day of Service in Melrose gets underway Saturday morning, according to Mayor Rob Dolan's blog.

Registration starts at 9 a.m. Jan. 18 at Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School, followed by traveling to sites in the city at 9:15 a.m. and working being done until 11:45 a.m.

"Projects at sites throughout the city include: letters to our service men and women, collection for food pantry, collection of soccer equipment for Haiti, teen clothing swap, preparing meals and desserts for the needy," reads an event flyer.

The day concludes at noon with volunteers returning to the middle school for pizza.
