The 8-year-old Melrose girl appeared in The Skating Club of Boston’s recent 100th Anniversary Ice Chips show.
Accomplishment: Annabelle appeared in 'Ice Chips 2012, 100 Years of Excellence,' an ice skating show "celebrating the dreams and accomplishments of the past, present, and future of figure skating," according to an announcement from The Skating Club of Boston. How she did it: The Melrose girl has appeared in the show three times. She skates at the preliminary level and represents The Skating Club of Boston when she competes, according to the announcement. Opening of the new baseball field, scheduled for this spring, was delayed after the city wasn't satisfied with the soil and sod that was used and resulted in water pooling in spots on the field.
Melrose High School baseball players should get the chance to play at least two games on the new Morelli Field this spring, Mayor Rob Dolan said, after the field's opening was delayed due to unsatisfactory soil and sod used during construction. The field should open on May 19 for practice, Dolan said, and the first game should be played on Monday, May 21 versus Matignon. The Red Raiders baseball team closes out the regular season the following day at home against Belmont. The city previously said that the field would not be available for play this season, after the project management team noticed that water was pooling in some areas of the field. Thirty-five Melrosians will be running the marathon.
On Monday, runners from around the world will tackle the world's oldest marathon for the 116th running of the Boston Marathon. Thirty-five Melrosians will be running the marathon as well. This week, Melrose Patch polled you on the best place in the city to buy tennis rackets, running gear and other sporting goods.
