Police Log: Fire on Lynde Street, Several B&Es on Island Hill Avenue

The following is a sampling of entries from the Melrose Police log: Fire Breaks Out at Lynde Street Home At 6:15 p.m. Jan. 26, police and fire crews responded to Lynde Street for a report of a structure fire. The caller reported a working fire at 18 Lynde Street, according to police. The two-alarm fire was knocked down by crews about 15 minutes later, according to the reports. Police Log: Officers Investigate Two Vehicle Break-Ins in Melrose

The following is a sampling of entries from the Melrose Police log: Melrose Police responded to two calls of breaking and entering into motor vehicles on Magnolia Road and Lincoln Street the morning of Oct. 15.  At 4:56 a.m., police called to Magnoliad Road for a report of a car broken into overnight. Laptop, Flat Screen Discovered Missing From YMCA

Also discovered missing on Monday morning were a coinbox and a camera, according to Melrose Police.

Melrose Police are investigating an apparent burglary at the YMCA on Main Street. At 4:36 a.m. on Monday morning, YMCA employees reported a possible breaking and entering to Melrose Police. According to Melrose Police Lt. Mark DeCroteau, the employees stated they were opening up for the day when they noticed a laptop normally at the lobby desk was missing. Also discovered missing was a flat screen television mounted to the wall in the gym area, a coinbox and a computer camera, DeCroteau said. A computer on the floor had been knocked over. Melrose Police are continuing an investigation, DeCroteau said.

Apartment Building Manager May Have Interrupted Theft of Copper Piping Tuesday, May 31, 12:25 p.m. The manager of an apartment building on West Wyoming Avenue told police he may have interrupted the theft of copper piping from the building's basement. The manager told Melrose Police that he found a screen had been cut on the back basement window, Melrose Police Lt. Mark DeCroteau said.
