Melrose Public Schools, St. Mary's School Canceled Monday

There will be no school on Monday for Melrose Public Schools, according to a city press statement. St. Mary's will also be closed on Monday, according to the WHDH website.

REPORTS: Multiple Shots Fired at West Wyoming Avenue Home in Melrose

A home on West Wyoming Avenue was shot multiple times late Thursday night, according to unconfirmed scanner reports.

A home on West Wyoming Avenue was shot multiple times late Thursday night, according to unconfirmed scanner reports. At roughly 11:45 p.m. Thursday, Melrose Police responded to 19 West Wyoming Ave. after receiving several calls about shots fired in the area, according to the reports. At least four bullet holes were found in the home, including one in the door and another through the window, according to the reports. Police canvassed the area and no one was injured during the shooting, according to the reports. Police reviewed a traffic camera and the possible suspect vehicle, described as a newer model, four-door white Tacoma pickup truck with tinted windows, was seen traveling south on Main Street toward Malden, according to the reports. …

UPDATED: State Police: DCR Parking Ban Starts Saturday Night at 9

The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation is instituting a parking ban starting at 9 p.m. Saturday due to the snowstorm, according to a State Police press statement.

Updated at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29 The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation is instituting a parking ban starting at 9 p.m. Saturday due to the snowstorm, according to a State Police press statement. "...The Department of Conservation and Recreation or DCR will institute a parking ban on all of their roads in anticipation of the pending storm," reads the statement. "These roads are all around parks, waterways and areas generally patrolled by the State Police. "All vehicles not removed from these areas will be towed to allow for snow removal and emergency access." State Police initially reported the ban would begin at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, but sent out a second press statement with the corrected time of 9 p.m.

MHS Bomb Threat Sparks Investigation By Police, School Officials

A bomb threat recently written in a restroom at Melrose High School triggered school and emergency officials to investigate the incident Wednesday afternoon, according to a press statement issued by Superintendent Cyndy Taymore's office.

Melrose High School issued an automated call shortly before 3 p.m. Wednesday about a bomb threat made against the school for Thursday, according to a report from a reader.

Updated at 3:52 p.m. Dec. 5 Melrose Public Schools will be issuing a press statement regarding the reported bomb threat Thursday afternoon, according to the Superintendent's office. Initial Report Melrose High School issued an automated call Wednesday afternoon about a bomb threat made against the school for Thursday, according to a report from a reader.  In the automated call put out shortly before 3 p.m., High School Principal Marianne Farrell stated students can not use backpacks and they must enter through the main entrance Thursday, according to the report. Calls made by Melrose Patch to the High School went unaswered Thursday.

Students Evacuated After Potential Gas Leak

Students will be sent home at 10 a.m. today.

Students were reportedly evacuated from Melrose High School and will be sent home at 10 a.m. this morning, according to reverse phone calls sent home to parents. While there is no confirmed gas leak, the move is being made as a precautionary measure. More info to come as it becomes available.

REPORT: Person Fell Into A Ditch on Porter Street in Melrose

A person fell into a ditch and needed to be extricated Tuesday morning on Port Street, according to a scanner report. We'll provide additional details as we receive them.

A person fell into a ditch on Porter Street and needed to be rescued Tuesday morning, according to a scanner report. At around 9 a.m., Melrose Police and Fire officers responded to Porter Street for a report of a person that fell in a ditch requiring extrication, according to the report. A box alarm was reportedly triggered. The person's condition is currently unknown. We'll provide additional details as we receive them.

BREAKING: Melrose DPW Making Emergency Repairs to Ruptured Water Main

The Melrose Public Works Department's Water Division is working on emergency repairs to the water system on Main Street near Ingalls Court in the block between Upham Street and Emerson Street on Tuesday, according to Director John Scenna.

"The 14-inch diameter water main ruptured overnight and a section of it will require replacement today," Scenna wrote in an email to Melrose Patch. "Water service is off on Main Street between Upham and Emerson and will remain off into (Tuesday) afternoon as repairs are completed." Additionally, Main Street northbound from Upham to Emerson Street is closed to traffic, according to Scenna. Traffic is being detoured from Main Street to Upham onto Lebanon, and Emerson from Lebanon to Main is currently closed…
