UPDATED: PHOTO GALLERY: Stove Fire Breaks Out At Washington Avenue Home

A two-alarm kitchen fire broke out at 22 Washington Ave. Saturday afternoon.

STONEHAM — A two-alarm fire broke out at an apartment at 22 Washington Ave. Saturday afternoon, according to a fire official. Shortly after 2 p.m., Stoneham firefighters responded to the apartment following a report of a kitchen fire. Captain Matt Grafton said it was a stove fire. "There was smoke showing on arrival and it was coming out the front door," Grafton said. "We immediately started running a line and venting the apartment." A second alarm was triggered and with it brought firefighters from the Melrose, Reading and Wakefield fire departments. Meanwhile, Winchester Fire Department covered the Stoneham Fire Station until shortly before 3 p.m. The blaze at the duplex was knocked down in about 5-10 minutes, Grafton said. The homeowner…
