However, the city also wants drivers to know this: "That citizens in residential neighborhoods only park on the street if it is absolutely necessary. DPW will be widening streets and removing snowbanks. Cars on the street may hinder that progress. Many streets remain narrow, and on-street parking may cause disturbances in traffic flow and additional congestion. Emergency Parking Ban in Effect at 5 p.m. Friday

The city of Melrose will have an emergency parking ban in place starting at 5 p.m. Friday, according to Mayor Rob Dolan's blog.

The city of Melrose will have an emergency parking ban in place starting at 5 p.m. Friday, according to Mayor Rob Dolan's blog. The parking ban also includes the downtown parking areas, according to the blog. The ban expires at noon on Sunday. "Please stay off the roads during the storm and afterwards so we can clear the streets," Dolan says in the blog. "Conditions will be dangerous and our snow operations will be in full effect." He later added: "The forecast is for heavy snow and poor visibility Friday evening, and we strongly recommend that everyone stay off the roads after 1 p.m."
